International Yoga Day

Celebrating Wellbeing and Unity: International Day of Yoga in Slough

Saturday was 21st June, which is celebrated globally as International Day of Yoga. On behalf of Vaani Speakers I was proud to host this year’s community celebration in Slough organised by IDUK, bringing people together to share in the practice and philosophy of yoga.

With over 300 registrants from across the community for a day focused on well-being. The event was filled with engaging yoga workshops, calming meditation sessions, and valuable information on the benefits of this ancient practice for modern life.

A special thank you to the Mayor of Slough, the local councillors and former MPs who graced us with their presence. Their support for community wellness initiatives is truly appreciated and highlights the growing recognition of yoga’s importance for people of all ages and backgrounds.

For me, this event was about more than just the poses; it was about sharing a powerful tool for well-being. In our fast-paced world, the mental benefits of yoga; clarity, calm, and reduced stress, are just as vital as the physical benefits of strength and flexibility. It is a practice that truly nurtures both mind and body.

Seeing so many people embrace the practice was the greatest reward. If you haven’t yet discovered its benefits, I wholeheartedly encourage you to explore yoga. Whether it’s five minutes of mindful breathing at your desk or a full class, it is a gift of self-care that everyone deserves.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make the day so memorable!
